PENNSYLVANIA: #51823 Delaware

  • Newark, Delaware, very close to Philadelphia and even closer to Philadelphia International Airport. WITHOUT the taxes of PA, NJ or MD!
  • 19 physicians at two locations in About two hours – give or take – from NYC.
  • The hospital with whom they provide patient care is Christiana Care, a nationally ranked, non-profit, tertiary, research and academic medical center.
  • Where you could live: Physicians live in Philadelphia, Philadelphia suburbs, New Jersey and Delaware. These areas have some of the most livable suburbs in the country and best public and private schools. Incredible place to raise a family.
  • Delaware also has tax-free shopping, lots of outdoor things to do: trails, parks, sports plus very close to the Southern Delaware Beaches (1 1/2 hours) and some of the lowest property taxes in the country (if you are interested in purchasing a home).
  • Transportation: In addition to close proximity to Philadelphia International Airport, there’s an Amtrak station in nearby Wilmington, Delaware that can take you pretty much anywhere – a quick, comfortable ride to New York City or points South. Baltimore (1 hour) and Washington, DC (2 hours) are a short drive down I-95.
  • Your call would be split evenly among the other docs. You would potentially be 1:9 nights and 1:9 weekends. Physician extenders take the first call at nights, so you won’t be woken up with bowel prep questions, and patients with chronic complaints that want to talk after hours. Physician extenders see the consults and follow-ups and work weekends.
  • The office is well-staffed and provides excellent physician support – coordinators track down labs, schedule patients, anything you could need.
  • Potential for sizable partner earnings.
  • You would have your own room in the office. You can walk to the hospital without going outside, and the endoscopy center is one traffic light away.
  • Three APP’s that see patients in the office, including one trained and specializing in the treatment of patients with hepatitis and cirrhosis (she’s excellent). You won’t need to treat viral hepatitis.
  • In-office infusions with a dedicated infusion nurse. The patients really seem to like and appreciate him.
  • You’ll have the opportunity to buy into the endoscopy center after you become a partner.
  • Work-life balance. The physicians work hard, but at the same time, they all have families that they prioritize.  Your professional life would not come at the expense of a healthy family life.
